Dawn Fernald-Spruill (that's me) is an independent Frederick Maryland artist. I have received 3 certifications from Mitsubishi Corporation to teach Precious Metal Clay. I have been a silver jewelry artist, painter and a stained/fused glass instructor for years, owning my own studio in Woodsboro Maryland. I have taught at the Delaplaine Art Center in Frederick, Wildacres Retreat Center in North Carolina as well as at Frederick Community College and Frederick Recreation Center. I have been written up in Frederick Magazine under their "Maryland Made:" section and in the Frederick News Post. I bring my own unique style to every class adding enthusiasm, encouragement, and a whole lot of fun to any event.
WHY SUPPORT LOCAL INDEPENDENT ARTISTS?
Because you get what you are paying for! Corporations or big companies can hire folks with little to no art skill. So you can be having someone try and teach a class who has no experience at all. Also most corporations keep the majority of the profits - there is no real incentive for them to do a great job to cater to you as a student or as a venue. They have thousands if not millions of followers. You just don't get a personal touch. For me - this is my business, my baby. I will treat you and your customers as family. It is my goal, no my passion to make sure you are satisfied with your experience. This is what I live for, sharing my abilities, my excitement, my enthusiasm with you as an individual as well a for small businesses and your patrons. Supporting local independent artists means you are helping the artist not the corporation.
WHAT DO I TEACH - WHERE DO I TEACH?
I teach painting on canvas, glass and the very popular pallet signs.
Or how about painting on silk! Silk Painting - what a cool way to wear your art!
Silver Metal Clay also know as PMC. Now this stuff is awesome!
Are you a venue looking for a fun event for your patrons? Currently I am teaching at places like Casanel Vineyards and Winery in Purciville Virginia, Jack's Hard Cider in Gettysburg, Lake House Distilling in Waynesboro Pennsylvania and Dublin Roasters Coffee House in Frederick. I would love to talk to you about your venue and how I can make your event fun and creative.
I also have 3 certifications from Mitsubishi Corporation, to teach Precious Metal Clay. PMC is pure silver in a clay form. Once textured and designed - a quick hot firing in a kiln produces pure silver jewelry. No nickle or other alloys just pure beautiful silver. I have taught PMC for more than 10 years and look forward to teaching you this fun, easy way to create beautiful one of a kind silver jewelry.
